InsomniaHave you got any idea about where the history of insomnia really started to evolve? Lots and lots of people heard of a sleeping disorder named insomnia, that seems to be in the life of many people around the globe. This term explains the state of not being able to sleep because of lots of causes like sleep diseases, stress and others. The history of insomnia officially began in 1623 when the word was added in the dictionary, and it was composed of the word in meaning not and somnus that means sleep. So, as you might expected, even back then insomnia had a simple meaning: no sleep.

Are you aware of the fact that the very known Benjamin Franklin, slept only on sheets which have a low temperature because or else he couldn’t sleep? But he is only one of the well known people that had problems due to insomnia and discovered their own cures for their problem. Among others, Winston Churchill also had insomnia problems and he always had two beds as if he couldn’t sleep in the first, then he would try to sleep in the second bed. Isaac Newton, the father of physics, had problems sleeping, as he suffered from a severe depression.

In the end, insomnia is for some time in the lives of common people and famous ones. No one knows exactly when this problem appeared exactly, but something is sure: insomnia appeared many centuries ago and no one guaranties that we will make it go away too soon. As you can see, there’s no truth beneath common beliefs that state that insomnia is a new problem for us, because it is in the last 400 years. Insomnia has been present since we can not remember and it looks like it is going to stay a while here with us.
